40 years Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park
Schleswig-Holstein
The Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park is celebrating its 40th anniversary. It was established in 1985 as the third national park in Germany and is now the largest in terms of area between the North Cape and Sicily. A Schleswig-Holstein success story, even if the beginnings were accompanied by scepticism. Its track record is outstanding and offers numerous reasons to celebrate the anniversary with special events as part of the 2025 theme year.
Locals and visitors can experience the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park in a variety of ways: from morning to evening, from January to December, in the mudflats, on the beach or in the salt marsh, from Sylt to Friedrichskoog. These more than 40 national park experiences are just a small selection from the extensive programme of events offered every year in and around the national park by the nature conservation associations, the national park mudflat and tour guides, the national park partners and the national park administration.
